Martin Lamb, Chairman
Martin has more than 25 years’ experience in the compound semiconductor materials industry, holding various senior positions including Managing Director of Wafer Technology Ltd.
He was part of the team that effected a management buyout of Wafer Technology in 1994 and in the following six years turned the business profitable and grew sales aggressively, winning the Queen’s Award for Export in 1997. The company was then sold to IQE plc and Martin served on the main board of IQE plc whilst it held listings on the main London Stock Exchange and later on AIM.
Since leaving IQE plc Martin has been active as a business angel, investing in twelve early-stage companies in the technology sector. He serves on the Board of several companies within his portfolio, many of which are commercialising novel technologies related to the production or processing of materials.
Jill is a highly experienced business leader with more than 25 years in senior positions within high tech enterprises from start-ups to International Corporates. She has an extensive track record of product delivery, project and subcontractor management and successful business development.
Desmond represents LCIF Holdings on the Board. He has over thirty years’ experience in finance & banking. Originally an associate editor with specialist oil & gas journal MEES, Desmond left journalism in 1980 to join de Zoete & Bevan (later BZW) and then Flemings before it was taken over by Chase/JP Morgan. Subsequently, he spent 13 years on secondment managing the investments of a family office in the Middle East during the eighties and nineties. He returned to London in 1997 as managing director of LA Investments, a venture capital company specializing in technology investments including renewable energy. He is also a trustee of Rougham Estate Trust and a novelist.
Stuart represents Minerva, a West Midlands business angel group. Minerva provided the initial funding for Anvil to proof of concept. He graduated from Bristol University with BSc Mech Eng, joining Reed international plc. He then joined Coats Viyella to gain international experience , spending 15 years in Sth America and Far East, ultimately running NW Europe for Coats Ltd. He left to develop a career as a business angel and investor.
He formed and ran HPL Group as CEO, recently divesting of the aerospace div. having set up a WOFE in China, HPL continues developing prototypes for the transport sector. He has a wide ranged portfolio of investments. His hobbies are ocean sailing, keeping fit and gardening.
Charles has worked in finance since 1979, both as a banker and a broker. He has specialised helping clients structure low risk and arbitrage portfolios. Since 2009 he has been working with companies in the Schneider Holdings Ltd group. He now focuses on angel investing as a partner in Schneider Investmenty Associates.
